Recycled Cotton
Generally, recycled cotton comes from waste yarns and fabrics from factories and workshops, as well as from post-consumer garments. Although they are more difficult to recycle since they are often mixed with other fabrics.
Because this fabric is made from cutting waste, it reduces textile waste and no new land, irrigation or pesticides are needed to grow the fibre. Spinning and dyeing still use water and energy.
It has the same properties as conventional cotton. It's a soft, breathable fabric that's appropriate for sensitive skin. According to Textile Exchange, producing recycled cotton avoids the water, land and fertiliser use of growing the same amount of new fibre.
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is grown according to internationally recognized organic farming standards. Organic cotton cultivation eliminates the use of pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers, as well as genetically modified seeds. Crop rotation regenerates the soil without artificial fertilizers.
Aside from reducing environmental impact, their cultivation increases the health and safety of workers by eliminating the exposure to toxic products that harm them.
Organic cotton is softer and has antibacterial properties that help make it suitable for sensitive skin. In its undyed and unfinished form the fibre is biodegradable in soil; dyes, finishes and trims are not covered by that property. Organic farming standards ban the pesticides and synthetic fertilisers used in conventional cotton, which lowers the risk of water pollution and of exposure for farm workers.
Recycled Polyester
A recycled polyester fiber can be made from industrial polyester waste, PET bottles, or finished garments.
We prevent the production of new materials and their disposal by reusing these materials. PET is recovered from seas and landfills where it would take hundreds of years to disappear.
In comparison with virgin polyester, this process uses less water and does not require new oil, as well as reducing CO2 emissions by 75%.
In terms of its properties, recycled polyester maintains its strength, durability, and performance that characterize the fabric. This change allows us to achieve the same characteristics, but with a lower environmental impact, and contribute to the reduction of plastic waste.
Seaqual
Seaqual fabrics are made of high-quality polyester yarn made from recycled materials that include post-consumer plastic bottles and plastic captured from the sea, so less new plastic is needed and less waste stays in the sea. Seaqual initiative is a community of individuals, organizations and companies working together to take litter out of our oceans, raise awareness of the issue of marine litter and highlight those helping to fight it.
Through the collaboration of 165 fishing boats, volunteers, and NGOs, plastic is recovered from beaches and seas to be used in the production of Seaqual.
In order to produce this fabric, only premium yarns are used, and high standards are followed when selecting the PET to be used.
According to Seaqual Initiative, producing this yarn from recovered plastic uses less water and energy and emits less CO2 than virgin polyester; the figures are published on seaqual.org.
Tencel / Lyocell
Lyocell, a trademarked brand of Tencel, is a cellulosic fiber manufactured from wood pulp, most commonly from Eucalyptus trees, grown in FSC or PEFC certified forests. According to Lenzing, its closed-loop process recovers and reuses more than 99% of the solvent. In its undyed form the fibre is certified biodegradable in soil, fresh water and marine conditions by TÜV Austria.
Since it can be continuously recycled, it reduces waste disposal, promotes the circular economy, and saves energy, water, and CO2. It is characterized by its softness, lightness, fluidity and breathability, maintaining a very pleasant texture to the skin.
Is a good alternative to cotton, is more durable, doesn't wrinkle or shrink during washing, and is very easy to care for. It is an excellent fiber for hypoallergenic people. It offers optimum moisture transportation for your skin´s well-being.
Recycled Wool
Typically, this wool is made from virgin wool leftovers or from post-consumer woollen garments. The process reduces water consumption, reduces land use for grazing, and avoids the use of chemicals for dyeing. It also allows woolen garments to avoid being thrown away.
This fabric is soft and skin-friendly, giving you the same warmth that you would find in a virgin woolen garment.
Ecovero
This viscose fiber from Lenzing
Ecovero is made from wood pulp sourced from FSC or PEFC certified forests.
During its life cycle it meets high environmental standards, certified with the EU Ecolabel, meeting high environmental standards throughout its production, distribution, and disposal cycles.
Its softness, lightness, and fluidity make it comparable to silk. It also regulates body temperature and humidity. In its undyed and unfinished form the fibre is biodegradable in soil; dyes, finishes and trims are not covered by that property.
Ecovero fibres are traceable throughout the supply chain. According to Lenzing, their production generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact than generic viscose.
